Participation in Student Council is an excellent way for young men and women to be actively engaged in the life of the school. It provides an opportunity for students to exercise and develop their leadership skills. Participation in Student Council also builds the life skills of team work and compromise while providing students with a glimpse into the broad scope of all the functions that work together to foster and maintain a positive culture within a diverse school community.
***All students in elected positions must serve on at least 2 committees.
During the month of May we will hold elections for the executive council positions and class representatives for the following school year.
Elections for the freshman class representatives will take place in September of the following year.
All students running for an elected position will need to meet the requirements established by the Student Council moderators, Ms. Burke and Mr. Widenhofer. Students interested in running for office should see Ms. Burke or Mr. Widenhofer to acquire the necessary paperwork and meet all deadlines.
All students who wish to participate in student council must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the CWNC administration.
Any rising 10th or 11th grader who has actively participated in Student Council for at least 1 year and meets the requirements established by the Student Council moderators is eligible to run for positions on the Executive Council.
Any student who meets the requirements established by the Student Council moderators is eligible to run for a representative position in his/her grade level.
All students in good academic and disciplinary standing are permitted to join Student Council committees and participate in the life and activities of CWNC. Committee positions are not elected. Faithful participation at the committee level constitutes membership on Student Council and qualifies the student to run for Executive Council positions in the future.
For further information regarding CWNC Student Council please contact Ms. Burke and Mr. Widenhofer.
